Skating at Skateland
Today, Kevin and I went to Skateland and skated for about two and a half hours.
I won a contest by being close to the DJ when she called out the contest: Name the artist and title of this song. It was Lowrider by War. I was skating past her, turned and shouted the answer, and she said she had a winner almost immediately.
I took two videos while there - one of Kevin doing laps, and one of the Hokey Pokey dance.

Netflix Queue
I've long had a particular problem with Netflix's queue. I've reported the problem to them several times, and they have promised to fix it, but have so far not fixed it.
The problem is when adding Blu-ray movies to your queue.
Sign in to your Netflix account. Click Browse DVDs. Hover over Genres and click Blu-ray. Now click Add and it will add it as a DVD, not as a Blu-ray.
This time, I went to my queue, changed the format for the movie War from DVD to Blu-ray, and clicked Update Your Queue. For some reason, they send me the movie in DVD instead of Blu-ray.
I call Netflix and complain. They tell me that they will report the issue to both shipping and to the Web development team. I was told this the last two times I called in about this issue.
They are also going to re-send War to me on Blu-ray, and give me a 50% discount off of next month's dues.
I would prefer them to just fix this issue, send me Blu-ray when I ask for Blu-ray, and then they don't have to give me discounts and stuff.

My New Phone
So far, I like the phone a lot. The call quality is as good or slightly better than my old phone.
The size is similar to the old phone, so it fits in the old cell phone case.
For some reason, I was led to believe that it had VZNavigator, but it does not. It has GPS instead. This is both good and bad. VZNavigator gives you voice turn-by-turn directions, and GPS is only on-screen. However, you have to pay a monthly fee to use VZNavigator, whereas GPS is free.
I also got a LG Bluetooth headset.
This thing is tiny, light, and barely detectable. I think it will be loud enough, but I have yet to experience it while jogging or driving, so we'll see.
Both of these Bluetooth devices can talk to the phone up to 33 feet away.
The stereo headset can control the play of music, volume, pause, etc. This should be great!

105 Days and 3 hours remaining
So I'm moving some data from my backup folder to my root folder. When I say "some," I mean "all," which is roughly equivalent to 178 GB of data.
This is a serious move, as you may well imagine. So serious, in fact, that after waiting for several minutes, the screen showed 105 Days and 3 hours remaining.
Anyhow, as you can see from the picture, the speed is 0 bytes/sec. So why so slow, when this is an awesome new 3GB/sec SATA drive? About 10 seconds after I took this screenshot, it completed.
I'm assuming Windows Vista 64 isn't very good at calculating the Speed, and without that, there's no way to figure out the Time remaining.
I hope they patch this soon.

Don't ask me again
You know when Windows or some program offers you a message and you have to click Yes or No or OK or some-such?
This is a great box to check! It means that in the future, you won't get this message.
I've overheard several people at work ask someone else what they can do - every time they read an e-mail, they have to click Yes!
I then tell these people about the checkbox.
Mostly, though, I wonder why I have to.

Rude Laundry People Lack Time Awareness
I've always figured that rude people either lack awareness or suppress awareness.
In many cases, the rudeness is due to a lack of awareness of the effect of their actions on other people. While that's certainly true in the case of rude laundry people, I've also identified what I believe is a lack of awareness of time.
In many cases, the rudeness is due to a lack of awareness of the effect of their actions on other people. While that's certainly true in the case of rude laundry people, I've also identified what I believe is a lack of awareness of time.
The three most offensive rude behaviors of people in shared laundry rooms (that I encounter) are (in order of incidence):
- Leaving light on too long
- Leaving lint on lint catch
- Leaving clothes in the laundry (washer or dryer) too long
Today I heard someone come and get their laundry. Figuring it's now a perfect time to put mine in, I spring into action.
When I arrive at the laundry room, the light is on (no big surprise) and one of the driers has two minutes left on it. This tells me that the person came when there were more than two minutes left on the dryer (a random occurrence to be sure).
Since they set the clock timer to nearly max (must be about 50-55 minutes of time on it), I must assume they thought getting the clothes out of the dryer would take longer than it did. And on the way out, their hands were full with laundry, so they couldn't stop to turn off the switch.
See, it's all attributable to lack of awareness of time.
Now, as I've stated before, electricity being used for no purpose just makes generator plants burn more coal, putting more pollutants into our atmosphere.
We'll see in a bit if they cleaned the lint catch.
